The State of Idaho has filed a motion to have the trial for Bryan Kohberger scheduled for the summer of 2024.

The State asked the Court to set the trial date when school is not in session to avoid conflict with Moscow High School and area universities.

The State argued that the trial should be held during the summer because the added media and vehicles related to the Kohberger case have created a strain on available parking and pose risks for students and pedestrians with the high school being adjacent to the courthouse.

They also argued that hotels are limited in the area and that college activities such as sporting events and graduation put a strain on their availability.

The State asked that the Court consider a daily schedule of court starting at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. each day during the trial to allow jurors time for their personal lives and allow the counsel and Court to address any motions or other issues that arise during the jury trial. The State expects the trial to take six weeks.

Kohberger is accused of murdering Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves, four University of Idaho students, in an off-campus house in November 2022.
