COLORADO SPRINGS – Emerging digital technologies and innovative operating models will expand the role of space in multiple economic sectors, according to, “Tech Trends 2019: Space industry perspective,” a report released April 15 by Deloitte.
In the past, space technologies like GPS often disrupted the status quo in other industries. Now, technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain and augmented reality “can disrupt the status quo of what we currently think of as space technology by advancing it, optimizing it or making it cheaper, faster or more accessible,” said Jeff Matthews, Deloitte specialist leader focused on space innovation, finance and technology.

The United States added 216,000 jobs in December, well surpassing economists’ expectations for a net gain of 160,000 jobs and capping off another banner year of employment growth. US employers added 2.7 million jobs last year. While that’s well below the totals of the record-setting 2022 (7.3 million) and 2021 (4.8 million), it’s still the 25th highest on record going back to 1939, Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows.

Russia's Wagner Group Opens Dozens of Recruitment Centers
The head of the Russian mercenary group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced the opening of Wagner recruitment centers in dozens of cities across Russia on Friday.
Wagner has been spearheading offensives against cities in eastern Ukraine including Bakhmut, in what has become the longest and bloodiest battle of Russia's year-long invasion. Both sides have suffered heavy losses around Bakhmut.
"Recruitment centers for PMC Wagner have opened in 42 Russian cities," Prigozhin said in a statement, referring to his private military company.
